A Dreamroot Solstice Story
Litha was a night-dweller.
She lived in the folds of velvet dusk, nestled in the arms of ferns, resting beneath moonflowers that only opened after dark.
While others flitted through the night like shadows, Litha always lingered at the edge of morning.
Because Litha loved the sun.
Each dawn, she watched the sky blush.
She saw golden light drip over the hills and kiss the dew into diamonds.
She saw children rise with tangled hair and run barefoot through beams of honey.
And in her tiny, tremoring heart, she thought
“What if I could be that bright?”
The elders told her:
“You are made for the moon.”
“Your wings speak silence.”
But Litha didn’t want silence.
She wanted warmth.
She wanted shimmer.
So on the longest day of the year, the day the sun would not rush away, Litha stayed awake.
